About this winery
It was Marlborough that broke the Kim Crawford virtual spell for the new millennium when the founders rented a state of the art winery and purchased vineyards in Marlborough’s cool Waihopai Valley in 2000. Why Marlborough? - “No other region in the world can match Marlborough, the northeastern corner of New Zealand’s South Island, which seems to be the best place in the world to grow Sauvignon Blanc grapes.” - George M. Taber, noted American wine

Production notes
The grapes are grown in the cool climate of the South Island of New Zealand, specifically in our favourite vineyards in the Marlborough and Central Otago regions. Our fruits come from clones and rootstocks that grow in a wide range of soils and microclimates, allowing us to assemble a wine with well-balanced flavors and exceptional quality. The grapes are first destemmed and then left to macerate for five days. The must is then enriched with pure and wild yeasts to develop their aromas and complexity. After fermentation, everything is filtered and part of the assembly is aged in French oak barrels (old and new). All the wine then goes through malolactic fermentation.
Tasting notes
Garnet colour with light purplish reflections. Nose: rich aromatic bouquet of black and ripe red cherry, enhanced by a hint of liquorice and spices and subtle oaky notes. On the palate, delicacy of ripe blackberry and ripened black cherry. Supple and silky tannins giving it structure and power enhanced by a beautiful acidity that counterbalances the sweetness of the fruit.
