About this winery

When they founded their winery in 1877, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino knew that the secret to producing the best Tuscan wines was access to the best vineyards. With this philosophy in mind, Ruffino has assembled over the years a collection of top wineries in the most important fine wine designations in Tuscany. For the company, each of the vineyards is like a jewel - a gift of the land of inestimable value.

Production notes

The winemaking of the Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Riserva begins with the careful selection of the best grapes from the traditional Chianti Classico region, harvested from September to October. The fermentation, facilitated by racking and tapping, was carried out in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature for 10 days, followed by 10 days of dandruff maceration. The wine was then subjected to a secondary malolactic fermentation to intensify the velvety texture, then aged for 24 months in oak, stainless steel and concrete vats. Before its arrival on the market, the Riserva Ducale also aged three months in bottle.

Tasting notes

Colour:Intense ruby red Bouquet: This complex wine is characterized by notes of cherries and violets delicately punctuated with tobacco, white pepper and a touch of flint. Taste profile: Riserva Ducale Chianti Classico Riserva offers a nice balance of velvety tannins and marked acidity, culminating on a long finish of rosemary. Its structure allows it to be kept for two to five years or more.
