About this winery
When they founded their winery in 1877, Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino knew that the secret to producing the best Tuscan wines was access to the best vineyards. With this philosophy in mind, Ruffino has assembled over the years a collection of top wineries in the most important fine wine designations in Tuscany. For the company, each of the vineyards is like a jewel - a gift of the land of inestimable value.

Production notes
Riserva Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is produced from grapes meticulously selected during the harvest. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration, aided by extraction and shedding, took place in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks for 21 days. Malolactic fermentation took place in concrete vats. Then the Riserva Ducale Oro Gran Selezione was aged for about 36 months: first for 12 months in concrete vats, then in large Slavenian oak barrels for the next 12 months, before spending the last 12 months of ageing in barrels that have already been used for a minimum of four years.
Tasting notes
Color: ruby red with garnet shades. Bouquet: intense aromas of cherry, plum and violet stand out, revealing a much more complex bouquet with notes of eucalyptus, chocolate and black pepper. Taste profile: superb structure with elegant tannins, supported by good acidity. The finish is characterized by pleasant sweet tobacco sensations, and the lingering taste recalls distinct notes of plum and balsamic. The Riserva Ducale Oro will age in beauty for decades.
