About this winery
Our brand name and namesake wine, The Prisoner, were inspired by the classic sketch Le Petit Prisonier by 19th century Spanish artist Francisco Goya. The sketch is part of Goya's series entitled, “The Disasters of War”, created to be a visual protest against the injustice and brutality of the Spanish War of Independence in 1808. Production notes
As we were selecting the fruit from excellent vineyards to produce The Prisoner, we found many that, while not meeting the high standards of our prestigious Napa Valley blend, were still of the highest quality. So we created Saldopour to showcase these magnificent fruits from Dry Creek, Lodi and Amador, where zinfandel has flourished for decades
Tasting notes
Dark ruby color, and intense aromas of black liquorice, pepper, cherry and spices. On the palate, the attack is rich, ample with brilliance. The flavours are both supple and refreshing, with a touch of chocolate. The finish reveals juicy and coated tannins.
